Landmeco has its own ESG report in place, but the journey continues: Now the focus is on the rest of the value chain

In recent years, Landmeco has focused on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance).

In 2024, this work was marked with the company’s first ESG report that shows, among other things, that significant reductions in CO₂ emissions have been achieved.

This ESG report makes Landmeco one of the few players in the poultry industry that can present an ESG report that meets future legal requirements.

Significant results

The focus on ESG is actually far from new for Landmeco, as reducing environmental impacts has always been a natural part of the company.

‘Although the requirement for an ESG report is relatively new, we have the figures on which the report is based dating back to 2020. It also shows that reducing the environmental footprint by optimizing production and minimizing the consumption of resources has always been part of Landmeco’s DNA,’ says Inge Nørgaard from Landmeco.

Among the concrete results in the ESG report, Inge Nørgaard mentions that from 2020 to 2023, there has been a total CO₂ reduction of 18 percent, corresponding to 20 tonnes less emissions.

‘This includes emissions directly attributable to Landmeco’s own facilities and activities, and it shows that we are continuously working to optimize water, energy consumption, and waste management,’ she says.

One of the pillars of Landmeco’s DNA is to give animals the best conditions, and the same goes for employees who look after animals.

‘Landmeco has always focused on optimizing products based on animal welfare, efficiency and ergonomics for employees. This focus contributes to ESG and at the same time, the requirements of ESG also help sharpen our current focus,’ says Inge Nørgaard.

ESG as a competitive parameter

ESG is increasingly becoming a significantly competitive factor, and Landmeco is ahead of the curve.

While other companies in the poultry industry are beginning to embrace ESG initiatives, Landmeco has been working with reporting for some time.

The targeted approach has made it possible to actively use ESG reporting in communication with customers, creating value for both parties.

Forward-looking focus

Although Landmeco is well advanced in terms of ESG reporting, the effort continues. From 2025, Landmeco will intensify its work with Scope 3, which covers CO₂ emissions throughout the value chain, including suppliers and transporters.

This next step will help ensure that external partners also comply with Landmeco’s ESG standards and will contribute to an even greater reduction in the company’s overall carbon footprint.

One step ahead

Landmeco’s extensive ESG efforts show that the company is not only meeting current requirements, but also taking an active step towards a more sustainable future.

With a continued focus on more sustainable solutions, Landmeco is ready to maintain its role as a responsible and innovative player in the poultry industry – to the benefit of the environment, employees, animal welfare, customers, suppliers and other business partners.
